The Mountain

Installation audiovidéo sd | 2005

“The elevator is the “character” of this installation, its performing element.”

– Nicole Gingras, Author and curator.

Vertical sweep of the landscape. A slow back-and-forth movement between the earth and the sky. The landscape transforms with the movement of the sun. The video installation The Mountain evokes the rhythm of slow breathing. It offers a space for contemplation and is part of a cyclical movement that refers to the passage of time. The sequences were filmed in a glass elevator shaft at the Banff Centre, in the Rockies, over the course of a single day, one sequence per hour, from dawn to dusk. The video consists of 16 sequences.
