Elevators with a View

HD audiovisual installation | 2015…

“The outside world appears to us as a shadowed fiction, framed through various mobile devices, suspended between sky and earth.”

– Nathalie Bachand, Curator of the exhibition

For this video installation project, I use glass elevator shafts as a filming device, creating a vertical travelling of the urban landscape. This camera movement allows, in a single continuous shot, to traverse multiple spaces (indoor, outdoor, close, distant, natural, built…). The installation highlights the diversity of urban spaces we move through. It explores the relationship we have with these passageways and the way we occupy architectural space, ultimately aiming to open the gaze onto imaginary territories.
