Memento

Audiovisual Installation | Collaboration with Rosalie D. Gagné | 2011

“The installation draws inspiration from the memory of a place with an industrial past and reflects the profound transformation experienced by the Centre-Sud neighborhood over recent decades.”

The Mémento soundscape is based on a testimonial letter from L., a former textile industry worker in the Centre-Sud neighborhood of Montreal. The video sequence was created using photographs of the abandoned Manhattan Children’s Wear factory on Parthenais Street, which has since been converted into a housing cooperative.

Presented at Maison de la culture Frontenac as part of the group exhibition La Manhattan Children’s Wear présente sa nouvelle collection exceptionnelle.
The installation features eight audio sources and a video image projected onto a sewing machine table.
