Tiou!

Audio installation sonore | 2012

“The work makes itself heard, surprises, and elicits a few smiles, even beyond the forest of white columns that initially spatialized it.”

– Marie-Eve Charron, “Le paysage et son décor”, Le Devoir, October 29, 2011

Small speakers emit human voices imitating bird songs based on the reading of onomatopoeias. Absurd in its inaccuracy, this attempt highlights the gap separating it from the source while simultaneously revealing an irrepressible desire to get closer to it.

Created as part of the group exhibition Analogie du repli – une œuvre paysage, at Maison des arts de Laval
Curators: Nadège Grebmeier Forget and Manon Tourigny
Tiou! is an eight-channel installation.
