The installation was created in the garden of the Lezarts cooperative, which opens onto Parthenais Street in Montreal. The initial concept of Projet champignon<\/em> was to mark the presence of artists in the Quartier culturel des faubourgs, making their creations and contributions to the cultural life of the neighborhood visible.<\/p>

I formed the collective, composed of Marie-Eve Fortier<\/a>, Karine Fournier<\/a>, and myself, to create a collaborative space fostering the exchange of ideas and expertise. I also sought to highlight the work of women in public art.<\/p>

The first phase of the project involved capturing a 360\u00b0 photograph of the neighborhood\u2019s skyline from the rooftop of the cooperative building. This skyline served as a record of the current landscape in a rapidly changing area. We translated this horizon into a painted mural on the asphalt of the parking lot, rendered in bold red, orange, pink, and yellow tones. Visible from the street, the mural created a striking visual impact.<\/p>

The second phase of the project featured a textile installation composed of mushrooms crafted from recycled colorful fabrics, interwoven with the lush vegetation of the courtyard. The mushrooms symbolized the interconnectedness between artists and the community, while the fabric evoked the neighborhood\u2019s industrial (textile) past.<\/p>

We invited members of the surrounding community to hand-sew mushrooms during workshops held every Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
