I Never Know Where I Am

Helsinki, Finland. A two-voice soundtrack: one female voice reads a list of Finnish street names, while another attempts to repeat them. In this video, I explore sensations of vertigo and the feeling of being completely unmoored when confronted with a new environment, culture, and language. An imaginary journey unfolds to the rhythm of a strange litany.

Double projections. Created as part of the CALQ artist residency program in 2007
Presented at the Helsinki International Artist-in-Residence Programme (HIAP) in 2008
