The inspiration behind the soundtrack for Memento is a testimonial letter by L., a former worker in the textile industry in Montreal’s Centre-Sud neighbourhood. The video footage is based on photographs of the Manhattan Children's Wear, an abandoned factory located on Parthenais Street, which was transformed into a housing cooperative in 2002.
Exhibited at the Maison de la Culture Frontenac, the group show Manhattan Children's Wear Presents Its New Special Collection is inspired by this industrial heritage site and attests to the profound change the neighbourhood has undergone in the last few decades.
The installation is composed of eight audio sources and one video image projected onto a piece of furniture.
