ARTIST RESIDENCY IN ICELAND, AT THE SUMMER SOLSTICE | 2015 |
Prospecting. Explore a new territory through photography, video and drawing (stone rubbing). I am interested in the relationship between the body and this geographically singular place: the stone’s (apparent) immobility makes us face the brevity of human life and the flow of days without night. Petrifaction and movement.
The long time span. I planned my stay in Iceland for June so as to experience the solstice near the Arctic Circle, since I’m interested in cyclical movements and the passage of time. This time of year evokes long cycles: the earth’s rotation around the sun and the planet’s slow movement.
